Member Protection

What is the role of the MPIO?

The Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) is the first point of call for any enquiries, concerns or complaints about harassment or abuse. The MPIO provides information and support to our members or anyone associated with our club who has a concern. Our MPIO has a duty of care to:

  • Maintain confidentiality;
  • Listen and act as an impartial support person;
  • Provide information about discrimination, harassment and child abuse;
  • Provide information about our Member Protection Policy and options available to resolve a complaint;
  • Provide information about relevant laws and the right to complain externally;
  • Discuss possible strategies to deal directly with individuals involved (but they cannot take sides or judge);
  • Provide contact details for counselling or other referrals as appropriate or as requested.

We take member protection seriously, and have developed a Members Protection Policy and contact form to help members contact our Members Protection Information Officer.
